Kerala to Develop 50 Adventure Tourism Spots

Kerala is trying to attract visitors by positioning itself as a safe destination for adventure tourism. More strict safety and security regulations and measures are being implemented at many sights and attractions to ensure nature buffs and adventure enthusiasts can explore Kerala hassle-free.

Currently, Kerala offers 31 varieties of water, land, and water-based activities that meet the guidelines set by the Kerala Adventure and Activities Based Tourism Safety and Security Regulations.

Soon, Muzhappilangad (Kannur), Kaapil (Varkala), and Vagamon (Idukki) towns in Kerala will be designated as adventure tourism centres. Also, a proposal has been made for the consideration of the government to set up adventure parks in all districts of the state. 

Soft adventure parks are already established in Asramam in Kollam, Veil, Thenmala, Wayanad, Karlad, and Kottappuram. Munnar will soon become a paragliding centre, and Sasthampara, near the state capital, will host the adventure tourism academy.

The Ministry insists on all activity providers to have well-trained professionals with hands-on experience, use quality equipment, be able to mitigate the risks and provide first-aid. Each of such providers will have to obtain a proper license meeting the central and state government norms.
