First Snow-Themed Train Connects Harbin and Yabuli Ski Resort

Heilongjiang Province in China celebrates this year's Harbin Snow Festival by launching the first snow-themed train.

The snow train connects the capital city of Heilongjiang, Harbin, with China's largest ski resort, Yabuli Ski Resort, also located in the same province.

The road distance between the two destinations is 240 km, the length of the railway line is slightly less at 205 km but in general, it requires three hours to travel from Harbin to Yabuli. The new train will reduce travel time by 30 minutes.

The new train is all about snow and ice, decorated with snowflakes, snowballs and pictures of winter sports. There are specially designed spaces on the train for transportation of skiing boards and other snow sports related equipment. Children on board the snow train are given free scarves and gloves to keep them warm. Also, information on local ski resorts, hotels, tickets and day passes is provided on board.

Located southeast of Harbin, Yabuli Ski Resort hosted the 1996 Winter Asian Games, the 2008 National Winter Games and 2009 Winter Universiade. The resort boasts good quality snow which is neither too soft, nor too hard ensuring great skiing and snowboarding experience from November to March.
