Spring Fair in Hanoi to Be Held January 13–19, 2020

Hanoi is getting ready for Tet – the Lunar New Year Festival – and the 2020 Spring Fair that will be held between January 13–19.

This time, the fair will take place at the Vietnam Exhibition Centre for Culture and Arts and will be vegetarian-themed. Representatives of independent venues and organisations as well as chefs specialising in vegetarian dishes and prominent environmental activists from across the country will gather together to put vegetarian food in focus.

According to the organisers, the aim of the fair is to promote a healthy diet and lifestyle and draw attention to the environmental issues.

A variety of vegan and vegetarian products and dishes will be on sale during the fair, and the visitors will be ecnouraged to take part in cooking workshops to prepare vegan dishes including banh chung (square glutinous rice cake).

The program of the event will feature not food-related activities, too like trying your hand in lacquer paintings, making lanterns for Tet and writing calligraphy letters. Traditional folk games, such as ca kheo (walking on stilts), bell ringing, shooting magic crossbow and hopscotch jumping will add fun to the fair which is expected to draw over 20,000 visitors.
