Dapugan City Offers Free River Cruises

Dagupan City, the Philippines, invites tourists to take a free boat tour along Dawel River. The cruise was relaunched on December, 27, 2019, and is currently free of charge, though it is expected that fees will apply as far as it gains popularity.

The City of Dagupan is located in the Pangasinan province, on the western side of the Luzon island. Easily accessible by bus from Manila, Dagupan is affectionately dubbed the Milkfish Capital of the Philippines.

The Dawel River Cruise in Dagupan was first launched in 2011 during the Bangus Festival. It offers a great opportunity to enjoy the serene river vibes and have glimpses into the life of the local communities. The cruises run from 9 am till 4 pm daily with each boat taking onboard between 12 and 20 passengers. Boats traverse the Dawel River up to Watac-Mamalingling and the cruise takes between 45 and 60 minutes.

The city tourism office representatives commented that the laucnh of a cruise boat is part of a wider initiative to attract more tourists to the city. “We need to bring more tourists because it is one of the ways to boost the economy as we will also be helping unemployed in our cities."

Other popular tourist experiences in Dagupan City include dining at Ciudad Fishing Village, visiting Dagupan City Museum, and strolling along Tondaligan Beach.
