During the first 10 months of the year, HKIA handled 60.8 million passengers and recorded 353,200 aircraft movements. It is 2.2 percent and 0.6 percent less year-on-year bases. The steady rise in the first quarter of the year was followed by an abrupt drop caused by pretests that started in March and are ongoing. Cargo throughout 2019 fell 7.0% to 3.9 million tonnes compared to the same period last year.
During the last three years the passenger flow in Hong Kong International Airport showed a steady growth with about 2 million passengers surplus on a yearly bases. In 2018, the airport handled 74,672,000 passengers, 428,000 aircraft movements and 5,212,000 airfreight movements. If the tendency of the II–III quarter of 2019 persists, the airport will hardly reach the numbers of the previous years.

Passenger flow in Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) plunged in October 2019 by 13 percent in passenger numbers (5.4 million) and by 6.1 percent – in flight numbers (34,300). Cargo volumes also dropped 5.5 percent (428,000 tons).
