Home for hot springs, Jiaoxi attracts huge crowds of locals during weekends, mostly from Taipei, but remains relatively unexplored by foreign visitors. The area features an array of hotels of all ranges, from budget to luxurious. There are a few free public hot springs, many of them sheltered, offering visitors to enjoy a leisurely foot bath any time of the day.
The new night market that is scheduled to open on December 13 will sit close to Jiaoxi Railway Station on Chanye Road. The market will open during weekends and have some 200 stalls – including food stalls and gaming stalls likeballoon target games, pinball machines, and ring games.
In March 2012, Jiaoxi was named one of the 'Top 10 Small Tourist Towns' by the Tourism Bureau of Taiwan. The new night market will keep tourists visiting Jiaoxi in the township – now many of those visiting the place go to night markets in other townships as Jiaoxi does not have its own.
The authorities also hope that the market will attract a fare share of cars helping to alleviate conjection during the busy Friday to Sunday rush hours on northeast Taiwan's highways, too.

Taiwan's famous hot spring destination and a popular cold season escape, Jiaoxi located in the northeastern part of Taiwan's Yilan County, will get its own Hot Spring Night Market mid-December.
