Launch of New Air Routes to Bring More Tourists to Vietnam

The launch of new direct flights and an increase in flight frequency between destinations in Vietnam and the countries from the Asian region including India, Thailand, Hong Kong, etc. will contribute to the growth of tourist arrivals to Vietnam, the representatives of the tourism industry in the country believe.

One of the routes on which travel demand increased most notably is between destinations in Vietnam and Hong Kong. The General Statistics Office of Vietnam reports some 48,200 visitors from Hong Kong between January and October this year, what accounts to almost a 95 percent increase compared to 2018.

Besides VietJet that announced the launch of the direct Da NangHong Kong route in December, Cathay Pacific Airways added two flights a week operated by its Cathay Dragon service between Ha Noi and Hong Kong in the end of October. Currently, Cathay Pacific together with its subsidiary Cathay Dragon operates 40 flights per week to different destinations in Vietnam.

Numbers of tourists who arrive to Vietnam by air has increased significantly this year. In October 2019 alone about 1.3 million foreign visitors entered the country via its air havens, an impressive 38.6 percent hike from the previous year.
