Tokyo Gets One More (and Very Cool!) Observation Deck

Tokyo has recently got a new observation deck considered by many the best in the city. The new deck is located in the East Tower of the Shibuya Scramble Square, in Tokyo's Shibuya district.

The 47-story tall East Tower is just the first building to open to the public out of the large Shibuya Scramble Square complex that sits on top of Shibuya Station. The rest of the complex is expected to be completed by 2028. The whole area of Shibuya Station is currently in the process of a major facelift that started a decade ago and will go on for another eight years.

The observation deck called Shibuya Sky is located on the rooftop of the new skyscraper. While Tokyo does already offer a wide range of observation decks, Shibuya Sky stands out thanks to a rare open-air experience which provides visitors with unobstructed views over the city. Sitting some 230 m high Shibuya Sky is higher than other buildings in the vicinity. The admission fee of 2000 yen (~USD18).

To look at the city from several different angles, try also Tokyo Skytree, Tokyo's tallest observation deck; the Tokyo World Trade Center and Tokyo Tower, each located in the very centre of the city; and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office that offers free access to the visitors.
