Jewel Changi Airport Celebrates Six Months of Operation

Jewel Changi Airport, a nature-themed entertainment and shopping complex built on the site of the former Terminal 1 open air carpark of Changi Airport, Singapore, celebrated six months of operations with an official ceremony by Singapore Prime Minister on 18 October.

Linked to three of the airport passenger terminals, Jewel is organised around the world's tallest indoor waterfall surrounded by a terraced forest setting. Following its opening in April this year, the complex welcomes up to 300,000 visitors a day.

Featuring play attractions, shopping and dining concepts and airport and accommodation facilities, Jewel, in collaboration with the Singapore Tourism Board and Singapore Airlines now offers a new 2.5-hour walking tour to introduce stopover travellers to the country-state and give them a taste of Singapore. This complimentary tour is available for transit passengers only with a minimum layover in Changi of 5.5 hours and a valid visa for Singapore. The tour inludes a closer look at Jewel's architecture, sampling some local dishes and a  free Canopy Park around the complex.

The airport executives say that since Jewel opened its doors to the public, operations are now in full swing. During the six months Jewel recorded a footfall of about 50 million from both local and foreign visitors.
