Pangkor Island Festival to hit Perak on September 13–15

The Pangkor Island Biennal Festival organised under the patronage of Oriental Art And Cultural Center will return to the island in Perak, Malaysia, for the 5th time this year from September 13 to 15. This Mid-Autumn Festival combines tradition, culture and heritage.

The first day of the Pangkor Island festival falls on the day of Mid-Autumn festival. On this occasion the seaside deck overlooking the Straits of Malacca will host a huge steamboat feast for participants before they embark on a lantern night walk, an old and beautiful but almost forgotten traditon, to head to the Pangkor Island Festival opening ceremony venue in the Sungai Pinang Kecil.

It was back in 2013 when the festival was held for the first time. Over these years, from a modest and very local event the festival grew into an extravaganza for lovers of arts and culture drawing a crowd of both local and international artists and performers as well as visitors. The festival also promotes the idea of 'togetherness' when families and friends unite to spend time together.

This time, among others visitors will be treated to performances of Malaysian, Taiwanese, Japanese participants. The program of the festival features film screenings, a cultural bazaar, fishing competitions, and various art workshops.
