Tourist Festival to Hit Shanghai in September

The organizers have announced the days of the annual Tourism Festival in Shanghai. This year, it will start on September 14 and last till the 6 October.

It is the 30th edition of the festival that is held every year since 1990. It is a large-scale event celebrating tourism. The main aim of the festival is to promote tourism in Shanghai, China and worldwide.

The festival is attended by heads of different provinces across China as well as officers from foreign consulates in Shanghai. Last year's festival drew over 12.7 million tourists from home and abroad. Some of the countries that send their participating groups include the UK, Greece, Spain, USA, Mexico, Bulgaria, Poland, Brazil, Lithuania, Bahamas, Finland, Korea, India, Switzerland, Italy, Russia, Ukraine, Slovakia, Australia, Indonesia, Slovakia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Brunei, Thailand as well as Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. 

The opening ceremony is scheduled to take place on September, 14, at 7.30 pm with a combined performance of 25 countries. 

The program of the festival features over 100 interactive activities, including a wedding ceremony for couples on a cruise. In the frame of the event, a separate food festival and music festival will be held, too. Special discounts on tickets, star-rated hotels, and high-standard home stays in top tourists destinations will be offered for visitors.
