United, USA and Vistara, India Sign Codesharing Agreement

United Airlines, a major American airline, and an Indian domestic New Delhi-based airline, Vistara, will enter into a codesharing agreement effetive from this autumn.

The codesharing agreement will expand United's global coverage in India to 20 destinations. Currently United offers year-round daily nonstop flights between New York/Newark in the USA and Mumbai and New Delhi in India. United's seasonal service between San Francisco and New Delhi will start on December, 5, this year providing travellers nonstop access from the US West Coast to the Indian capital. It will also serve as a second leg for connecting flights from as many as 80 Americal cities to India.

The new codeshare will enable United to offer their customers over 20 destinations from Mumbai and New Delhi. Frequent United fliers will be able to earn and redeem miles with United MileagePlus program on all Vistara routes and Vistara's Club members will enjoy the same previlege of earning and redeeming frequent flyer miles on all United routes. 

Chief Strategy & Commercial Officer of Vistara said that the airline is happy to take their 'partnership with United Airlines to the next level with this codeshare agreement' as it will help Vistara 'offer an extended global network to customers'. Vistara's representative also mentioned that they will be happy to welcome travellers from across the world 'to experience Vistara's award-winning hospitality and service in India.'
