Vietnam Airlines, the flag carrier of Vietnam, and Aeroflot Russian Airlines, the flag carrier and largest airline of the Russian Federation, have launched a codesharing program both on domestic and international routes in the two countries.

In the frames of the codesharing agreement, Vietnam Airlines will move operations to Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport effective from July this year. Currently the airline operates from Domodedovo airport to the south of the capital of Russia. Both airlines are members of SkyTeam alliance.
The code sharing flights by Vietnam Airlines will include HanoiMoscow, HanoiHo Chi Minh (Saigon), HanoiPhu Quoc, HanoiNha Trang, HCMC–Phu Quoc, and HCMC–Nha Trang. Aeroflot will codeshare on the following flights: MoscowHanoi, MoscowHo Chi Minh, Moscow–St Petersburg, MoscowUfa, and Moscow– Krasnodar
For the both airlines the codesharing agreement is viewed as a means of boosting their presence in the respective regions. It will also allow travellers to be more flexible while planning their trips and have a greater choice. Travellers from Europe to Vietnam via Moscow are most probably the largest group who will benefit from codesharing of Aeroflot and Vietnam Airlines.
Currently, Vietnam Airlines flies between Hanoi and Moscow three times a week, while Aeroflot offers daily service to Hanoi and two weekly flights to Ho Chi Minh.
