WIll Flying Taxis Become a Reality Before 2030?

Will flying taxis become a reality any time soon? GlobalData travel and tourism analists are quite sure of it. Indeed, some big companies have already started competeing for their market share in the skies.

The concept of 'pilotless flying vehicles' is becoming more and more popular with congestion in bigger cities growing around the world. The analysts say that flying taxis may potentially boost tourism in the early adopting countries as tourists will flock to take a first-hand look at the new technology.

People already travel in helicopters and some travellers are ready to pay more to combine transportation and sightseeing. One of the most popular helicopter routes in Asia is the one between Hong Kong and Macao. Flying taxis will be just the next step in development of futuristic means of transportation. Flying passenger drones have been already tested and there is no doubt they will soon become commercial.

The analysts even predict the cost of travel in flying taxis. Naturally, it will not be a budget-friendly option at first with an estimated USD1.85 per person per 1.6 km but in the long-run prices can drop four times.

While flying taxis future looks promising, traditional taxis are very likely to encounter even more problems then now when they are already struggling to keep up with the likes of Uber and Lyft.
