Coffee Lovers Alert: Coffee Festival in Dak Lak Is On!

Buôn Ma Thuột Coffee Festival is now on in Dak Lak province in Vietnam's Central Highlands. The festival kicked off on March, 9th, and will continue till this Saturday, March, 12th.

It is the 7th edition of the biennial event held under the supervision of Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam. The main stage of the festival is Buon Ma Thuot City and two of Dak Lak's districts, Buôn Đôn and Lắk.

Traditionally, the program of the festival features a coffee fare and exhibition and elephant and boat races. This time visitors will have an opportunity to see a photo exhibition prepared for the 44th anniversary of Buon Ma Thuot's victory. A special Tay Nguyen cuisine competition will be held in the frame of the festival, too.

The highlight of the festival is a Vietnamese specialty coffee competition which will be held for the first time. A separate exhibition will make guests acquainted with the global coffee history.
 
Dak Lak province is the largest coffee producer in Vietnam. Together with rubber and fruits coffee plays an important role in the econpmy of Dak Lak. The most famous Vietnamese coffee is grown around Buon Ma Thuot. There is a coffee museum in the city, and an abundance of coffee shops offer a wide variety of beans and roasts. The local 'ruou can' brew is highly recommended for tasting.
