The airline is now offering 50% discounts for flights between Jakarta and Medan, North Sumatra, and Jakarta and Jayapura, Papua, as well as for some other domestic routes. Medan flights fares now start from Rp 880,000 (~USD62.54), Jayapura flights prices – from Rp. 2.28 million exclusive of passenger service charges (PSC), value-added taxes (PPN) and insurance. Promotional fares are available through all the channels, from the airline official website to ticketing offices and (online) travel agencies.
This step is Lion Air's contribution to the governmental campaign to boost foreign tourist arrivals and stimulate domestic tourism country-wide.
Medan, the largest city outside Java, is a hotpot of cultures with a colourful mix of Chinese, Javanese, Toba-Batak, Minangkabau, Mandailing Batak, Karo Batak, Southern Indians, and Northern Indians contributing to the unique character and atmosphere of the place.
