More Auctions for High-Speed Rail Project in Bangkok, Extension of Highways in Ayutthaya and Saraburi Planned

The Ministry of Transport of Thailand is ready to accept more bids for the high-speed rail project in March. 12 contracts for construction of a 235 kilometer stretch of high-speed railway are to be audited during February and March, too. 

The construction of the first phase of the high-speed rail project which includes the Klang Dong–Pang Asoke railtrack is already half complete. The second phase during which the Sikhio–Kut Chik leg should be finished is still waiting for the name of the contractor to be announced in March. 

Other projects aimed at improving the country’s transportation system that will be pushed forward in the nearest future include expansion of Highways 3053, 309, 3477, and 356 in Ayutthaya province as well as construction of a new bus terminal in Ayutthaya and the expansion of Ayutthaya Port. There is also a bridge construction project on the list as well as a new road linking Rojana Train Station and Rojana Road.

Several highways in Sara Buri province, northeast of Bangkok, will be extended, too. These include Highways 360, 3222, 3034, 3048, 3188, and 362. A new road will connect the Sara Buri Government Complex and Saraburi Train Station.
