Online Application at Thai Consulate Vientiane Confirmed

Thailand's Embassy in Laos has confirmed that starting from February, 1, all applications for tourist, transit, education, business, or family visas at Vientiane's Consulate will be accepted only after an online appointment.

No more long queues at the consulate section of Royal Thai Embassy in Vientiane starting from February, 1, this year. The consulate introduces a compulsory online appointment system; any walk-ins will be refused.

Before submitting your visa application it will be necessary to schedule an online appointment via thaivisavientiane.org web-site. The appointment confirmation should be then printed out and added to the other documents you are required to submit for the selected type of the visa.

For a long time Vientaine remains the most popular destination for expats and long stayers in Thailand for renewal of their visas. Visa applications are normally submitted in the morning before noon and if approved, visas are handed out the next day in the afternoon.

Last year, an online application system was introduced in several other Thai consulates around the world. In general, it aims at streamlining the process and allowing applicants to save time and money.
