Thai Airways Announces Schedule Adjustments for December 31

Thai Airways has announced schedule adjucstments for their flights to and from Northern Thailand on December, 31. If you travel on that date, please read carefully.

As it is a long-standing tradition in the Northern Thailand to floats sky lanterns on the new year's eve, the airline decided to introduce adjustments to the schedule of some of their BangkokChiang Mai and Chiang MaiBangkok flights to avoid potential danger from collision of aircrafts with floating sky lanterns to maintain safety standards. For the same reason the similar changes were adopted and proved helpful for Loy Krathong Festival which took place on November, 22-23 this year. 

Two flights will be cancelled on December 31. They are TG120 BangkokChiang Mai and the return TG121 Chiang MaiBangkok flight.

On December 31, TG116 BangkokChiang Mai will depart an hour and a half prior to its usual schedule at 3.40 pm and arrive to its destination at 4.50 pm while normally it leaves the capital Suvarnabhumi airport at 5.10 pm and arrives to Chiang Mai International Airport at 6.30 pm.

BangkokChiang Mai is one of the most busy routes served by Thai Airways. The airline offers 18 daily flights on this route with the earliest departure of the day at 6.45 am and the latest flight of the day at 10.25 m. Similalrly, in the opposite direction the first flight departs for Bangkok at 6.15 am and the last – at 9.55 pm.
